| Tour Burner by TalyorMade |
The Taylor Made Tour Burner has been introduced to provide the average golfer with the ability to hit the ball off the tee with high launch angle and low spin-rate – just like the pros. It has been developed with input from Tour players and overall it is 17 per cent lighter than the standard Taylor Made Burner.
It is not actually designed as an expensive Tour driver but is about trying to give the average golf Tour-like performance.

The Tour Burner’s main point of difference is the incorporation of the new Dual Crown Technology. The size of the crown is smaller than the sole and a delineated groove separates the crown and sole, making the Tour Burner’s crown 12 per cent lighter than the standard Burner. The clubhead walls are also lighter, measuring only .55 millimeters thick, because of the Ultra-Thin Wall casting technology.
With this weight saved, Taylor Made has been able to make the center of gravity the lowest ever in the history of the company’s golf drivers. Compared to the Burner TP, the Tour Burner’s center of gravity is 40 per cent lower.
The Tour Burner has a high moment-of-inertia (MOI) to make it a more stable and forgiving golf club for those golfers who sometimes produce off-center hits.
TaylorMade’s Inverted Core Technology is typified by a “shallow cone milled directly onto the inner side of the clubface”. This changes how the clubface behaves when the ball is struck so that more of the face distributes speed onto the golf ball. The Inverted Core Technology, combined with the high MOI, produces an “effective MOI” which is close to the USGA’s limit of 5900.
Compared to the standard Burner and Burner TP, TaylorMade has changed the cosmetics of the club. The result is a clean, black clubhead and dark coat finish on the remainder of the driver. The large sole of the Tour Burner provides more confidence to the golfer when they step up to the tee and the clubhead shape provides impressive feel and sound on impact.
The Tour Burner also has SuperFast technology. This is marketing speak for a RE*AX® SuperFast 60-gram Fujikura shaft with low torque and a stiff 350 inch tip, an ultra-light grip and a long 45.5 inch total club length. The SuperFast technology ensures a faster swing speed which equals more ball speed and therefore distance.
The Tour Burner’s lofts are 8.5, 9.5 or 10.5 degrees and the head size is 450cc.
