R7 SuperQuad
by TalyorMade

TalyorMade started their domination of the Tour with the R7 golf club drivers. The R7 SuperQuad is the next step in the evolution of Adjustable Weight Technology by offering 4 adjustable weights. By changing these weights the player can customize the distance, accuracy and workability to suit their own swing.

The company first introduced Adjustable Weight Technology in 2003. Changing the weights on the driver’s clubhead changes the center of gravity and therefore the golf ball’s flight as it is struck. This allows the player to adjust the club’s characteristics to suit his or hers style of play and swing, and improve distance and accuracy.

For example, if the player wants the ball to move to the right (fade) then they move the weight to the right side of the golf club drivers. Or if they want the ball to move to the left (draw) then the player moves the weight to the middle of the club. In total you can promote fades or draws, and the trajectory of the ball all from just moving the weights.

The R7 SuperQuad is the first ever adjustable weight driver with a 460 cc clubhead. The first R7 was only 400 cc because the ports for the weights would make the head too heavy. However, the R7 SuperQuad utilizes the Ultra-Thin-Wall Technology which makes the clubhead walls thinner and therefore lighter. With the weight saved Taylor Made was able to increase the clubhead size to 460 cc.

Even though the clubhead walls are thin they are just as strong as clubs with thicker walls.

This golf clubs driver comes with 4 weights - two 12g and two 1g weights - and the clubhead has four weight ports. Even more weights are available from the company if you wish.

It has a maximum 28-yard lateral trajectory change and 1.5 degree launch-angle change. The center of gravity is very low to encourage high shots and long carry. The clubhead is an stylish all black.

Like all TaylorMade golf drivers, the R7 SuperQuad also has Inverted Cone Technology. This extends the club’s sweet spot or strike zone to ensure more distance for those off-center shots.

The shaft is a 65-gram RE*AX by Fujikura promotes faster clubhead speed. The lofts are 8.5, 9.5, 10.5 and 12.0 degrees.
