| Launcher by Cleveland |
Unlike the HiBore line of Cleveland golf drivers which had a scooped back clubhead, the 2009 Cleveland Launcher has a more traditional look. The 2009 version is the third in the Launcher line with the Launcher 460 and Launcher Comp its predecessors.
The 2009 Cleveland launcher has a clubface which is 21% larger than the 460 and Comp, which promotes maximum forgiveness on miss hits. It is designed to have low spin, mid-trajectory and high moment of inertia (MOI).
Thin Crown Technology means that the Launcher’s crown is only half a millimeter thick, saving on weight and allowing the center of gravity to be moved low and deep inside the clubhead. This position of the center of gravity promotes maximum distance.
The favorable weighting is further improved by the Horseshoe Perimeter Sole Weighting. A horseshoe-shaped weight pad is placed on the rear of the sole to help with pushing the weight low and deep for stability on misshits.
The Launcher’s 460 cc clubhead is the maximum allowed under the rules and has been engineered by Cleveland to produce a conventional, ear-pleasing and solid sound on impact.
The shafts available for the Cleveland Launcher are the Fujikura Flightspeed which is the next evolution of the Fit-On Red and Golf fitting system. These are lightweight shafts with a high-balance point for both increased swing and ball speed for that precious increase in distance.
The Fujikura Fit-On Flightspeed Golf is engineered to promote high-launches. The Fit-On Flightspeed Red is designed to reduce spin for stronger or the higher ball flight plaer.
The lofts for the Cleveland Launcher are 9.0, 10.5 and 12.0 degrees.
