The original HiBore was introduced in 2006 and was the first driver to utilize the Driver Distance Geometry which revolutionized driver head shapes. This technology has been improved with the new HiBore XL driver to produce a club which is bigger, longer and straighter than the original version.
The Cleveland HiBore XL was a best selling golf driver within months of its release and following three wins on the 2007 PGA Tour - Vijay Singh at both Mercedes Benz Championship and Arnold Palmer Invitational; Boo Weekley at the Verizon Heritage.

The HiBore XL is engineered to minimize criticisms of the original model – that is, lack of stability with the clubhead.
Driver Distance Geometry drops down the crown to lower the center of gravity and produce the only face-centered sweet spot in the sport of golf. This aligned sweet spot promotes a higher launch angle and lower spin rate without the loss of ball speed that can be seen with other drivers.
The effect of the Driver Distance Geometry is similar to how the highest jump is produced from the center of a trampoline. For golf drivers the greatest spring effect comes from the geometric center of the face. This effect is maximized by aligning the sweet spot with the geometric center of the clubface.
The HiBore XL improves the Driver Distance Geometry with Full-Face Performance technology. The larger clubface has enabled a bigger sweet spot and 15% more MOI when compared to the original HiBore. The increase in MOI means that the HiBore XL is more resistance to the clubhead twisting on mis-hits for more stability and forgiveness.
The Cleveland Hibore XL is a nice looking club with a swoop back and black pearl finish. The body is constructed from an aerospace grade titanium alloy.
The clubhead is a 460 cc size. Two shafts are available: Fujikura HiBORE XL Gold (Standard Trajectory) with A, R or S flexes; or – for more skilled players - a Fujikura HiBORE XL Red (Tour Trajectory) with R, S and X flexes.
The lofts are 8.5, 9.5, 10.5, 11.5 and 16 degrees. A Tour version for more skillful players is also available.
