| FT-5 by Callaway |
The Callaway FT-5 golf driver is a traditional looking club which allows different center of gravity locations to promote various ball trajectories – draws, neutral or straight, and fade. It is an update of the FT-3 Callaway golf driver from mid-2005. The FT-5 was awarded the Editor’s Choice on the Hot List in Golf Digest and was also used by Phil Mickelson when he won the AT*T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, matching the tournament record.
An evolution from the FT-3, the FT-5 is a refined step forward in the next generation of golf drivers from Callaway. The Fusion Technology comprises of a clubhead constructed from a range of materials designed to maximize performance. The body is made from carbon composite with is much more lighter than titanium and consists of fine strands of carbon – one-tenth the thickness of human hair – woven and molded together.
The center of gravity is lowered by a 25 gram weight located at the rear of the driver, ensuring higher launches.
The Fusion Technology combines with the OptiFit Weight System to allow golfers to fine tune the club to suit their individual swing. Three center of gravity locations are available by shifting the discretionary 50 grams of weight.
If you would like to promote a slight draw or reduce a slice/fade, then the weight is placed on the closet side of the clubhead to the player. A neutral or straight configuration is enabled by centering the weight. And a fade or to reduce a hook/draw, the weight is placed on the furthest parts of the clubhead from the player.
The end result for the golfer is longer and straighter shots without changing their swing.
The Callaway FT-5 golf driver’s clubhead is a large 460 cc size which ensures a large clubface and high moment of inertia (MOI) for faster ball speed at impact. The modified VFT Technology means that the face is thicker in the center and thin at the edges, allowing more energy to be transferred to the ball.

The standard version comes with a Fujikura E-150 shaft (R, S, X). The lofts are 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 degrees.
